Construction is underway on approximately three-tenths of a mile of new concrete sidewalk along North Plandome Road near Leeds Pond, across from the Science Museum of Long Island and adjacent to Manhasset Bay Beach. The project will replace the existing asphalt walkway on Nassau County-owned property, improving pedestrian safety and accessibility for Village residents and the surrounding community.

Significant portions of the new sidewalk have already been completed, with work continuing along the remaining sections.

The Village of Plandome Manor has been working closely with Nassau County Legislator Mazi Pilip, along with local residents, to advocate for improvements to the County-owned property. These efforts, in coordination with the Nassau County Department of Public Works and Department of Parks, have helped bring the sidewalk replacement project to fruition.

On Wednesday, Oct. 21, Legislator Pilip joined Nassau County Parks Commissioner Darcy A. Belyea, Public Works Commissioner Michael Kwaschyn, members of the Nassau County Department of Public Works, Plandome Manor Mayor Barbara Donno, Village Trustees Peter Kulka and Patricia O’Neill, and community members at the project site to recognize the progress of the improvements.

The gathering brought together County and Village officials, employees and residents whose collective efforts helped advance the project.

The Village extends its appreciation to Legislator Pilip, Commissioners Belyea and Kwaschyn, Nassau County employees and the community members who contributed to making these improvements possible.

Once completed, the new sidewalk will provide a lasting benefit to Village residents and the greater community alike.
